[…] bild tog jag med för att den är tidig vår för mig. Detta var en aprilmorgon för tre år…
As you who read this blog on a at least somewhat regular basis know, I have my favourite place Elfvik as a recurring theme. You’ve heard me gush about it 100 times at least and seen heaps of photos from the place. And you will see plenty more in the future – you bet. No escaping Elfvik in this blog. So be prepared for another Elfvik blog entry right now. For the very few of you who read this blog not living in Sweden, summer came by over the weekend here which was also a long weekend for most people thanks to the ”squeeze day” on Friday. I think the rest of Europe got a taste of summer this weekend too? It caught most of us by surprise I think. Just a week ago we were freezing in our winter clothes and it seemed like spring would never come for real. Anyway back to […]
Wow! You know that day you dream about all through the dark cold winter? That day that you in early January think will never come and seems like a fairy tale? That first REAL warm spring day? For me that was today. I felt so alive. It’s amazing how much spring, sun, warm air and a bursting blooming nature affect your soul. At least mine. A colleague and I took a short lunch walk during lunch break along the little path in the woods behind campus. Little spring green buds on the trees literally growing before our eyes, hills filled with hundreds and hundreds of wood anemones brightening up the ground turning their gorgeous white petals to the sun, birds singing happily. Heavenly. As I got home I decided to try the balcony since I know it is always warmer there than the actual degrees. It was hot as in […]
The long weekend is over. It came and went. Time is fascinating. It is seconds and minutes. 60 seconds per minute for 24 hours a day. Time is constant. But yet it feel so inconsistent. It can be very slow. And very fast. Five minutes is an eternity when you stand in the rain waiting for the bus at the bus stop and a lovely spring-like four-day long weekend can feel like two seconds. Easter Eve was spent with my grandmother. We had a lovely day feasting on cake and sweets. It was a beautiful early spring day. If this keeps up soon things will start to blossom and bring back colour to nature again. When I walked in Lidingö Centrum to buy our cake, I was like a drug addict craving the sunlight that flooded the square . Its bright light and warm soothing rays on my cheeks started an endorphine rush in […]
We are now through the spring equinox so now the light is definitely beating the darkness. On Sunday it’s daylight saving time finally. The light is officially BACK! Yay. But here in Stockhom the winter is still fighting spring. Snow is falling from the sky and it’s chilly. I love snow but now I have had enough of it. So these winter strikes are annoying, but deep inside I know – spring will prevail and conquer in the end. So that thought is what keeps me going now. It’s like a metaphor of life. If you just hang in there, never give up, never lose hope and the sight of a sunny horizon, good things will come. The bad strikes back, it always does because life is a constant mix of good and bad, but the good always wins if we let it win. The key is also to see the […]
After a very foggy morning the sun eventually dissolved the misty air and cleared the sight of a new day. I love Stockholm right now. It has been so sunny and pretty lately with blue sky and yellow sun that is starting to radiate its warmth all the way down to us. I am really for the first time actually getting a true sense of the coming spring. It IS coming. It is not a ”wishful thinking” sensation any more. It definitely is coming. Happy dances inside! I am prepared for setbacks. We have all of unreliable April ahead of us too. But inbetween the setbacks it will get warmer and warmer. Yay!! Smörblomma – buttercup. Soon!! The photo project that we usually put up on Thursday afternoon has been postponed until tomorrow on Jen’s request. Life gets in the way of creativity sometimes. Tomorrow is a Swedish blog day so […]
My first sign of spring is here. Tomorrow is finally March. It is getting lighter fast now. You can see the change day by day. Now it’s less than four weeks left before daylight saving time. I am counting down. That’s when ”life” comes back to me for real after the dark winter. In March, even though we can still have several cold spells left, all through April really, you can at least start hoping for more lasting warmer spring weather in between these cold spells. Oh I can’t wait! What is your personal first sign of spring?
The last couple of weeks have been wonderful. Now we are facing mild weather and the snow is melting and getting dirty. I mourn the beautiful sunny sparkly winter days, but I would not mourn if this was actually the end of winter. I long for spring and light. How was your weekend? Mine was fine. The weather was dull so I didn’t get to take any new photos for our tree project this week, the theme being backlight. Difficult when there is no light. So I will have to put up old photos this week. Next week we will have a very cool and very creative theme coming up. You will find out what it is on Thursday when Jen and I present this week’s photos. On Saturday I did my volunteer work at the cat shelter. Adorable kitties – they always melt my heart. They are like medicine […]
