Phew. I have given myself a tough updating schedule in this blog with two entries every weekday. I do it because I love wrting for the blog, but also to keep a regular frequent update. I have had this blog now for a couple of months and I realise it is really hard to keep up with this schedule with interesting content twice everyday when you combine this with a busy full time job. Since I work all day I have to write the entries in the evening before they are published and schedule them to be automatically published 8 am and 3 pm the day after. I also need to have something to write about and when your days consist of work and not much else it is not always easy to find interesting subjects to blog about even though I try. And at times, as you have noticed, I […]
After a very foggy morning the sun eventually dissolved the misty air and cleared the sight of a new day. I love Stockholm right now. It has been so sunny and pretty lately with blue sky and yellow sun that is starting to radiate its warmth all the way down to us. I am really for the first time actually getting a true sense of the coming spring. It IS coming. It is not a ”wishful thinking” sensation any more. It definitely is coming. Happy dances inside! I am prepared for setbacks. We have all of unreliable April ahead of us too. But inbetween the setbacks it will get warmer and warmer. Yay!! Smörblomma – buttercup. Soon!! The photo project that we usually put up on Thursday afternoon has been postponed until tomorrow on Jen’s request. Life gets in the way of creativity sometimes. Tomorrow is a Swedish blog day so […]
Good morning from my bed at the hotel in Borås. I am actually writing this today, the actual Tuesday. It is nice to be blogging on the day you will actually read it, and not the day before publishing. 🙂 Maybe I should look over my publishing schedule. I just woke up. And this view below is the first thing my eyes saw this morning. Hotel Grand in Borås is like my home away from home these days. Hotel nights for me are often a hit or miss thing when it comes to sleep. Tonight was a hit! I slept so well. Last time I was here I had a very worried sleep and woke up with a head ache. It is weird how it is either really bad sleep, or like tonight, a really good sleep. It’s never an ”ok” sleep. Going home today. So am looking forward to my own […]
Monday. First day of the work week after a weekend that passed way too quickly. As they usually do. Why is it that there is a different time on days off than on workdays? And you wake up all bright and alert right before the alarm clock on your day off, and on a workday you wake up feeling you have only slept for thirty minutes. That is a mystery never to be solved. Waking up at 5:30, snoozing until 5:50. Then I walk out of bed and in a daze to the bathroom to have a zombie-like shower to make me more human. I brush my teeth with a little more alert and less swollen eyes looking at my tired reflection in the mirror. ”Oh dear, still not all human yet….” I look through my closet for something to wear, and ask myself the same thing every morning: ”I have nothing […]
My first sign of spring is here. Tomorrow is finally March. It is getting lighter fast now. You can see the change day by day. Now it’s less than four weeks left before daylight saving time. I am counting down. That’s when ”life” comes back to me for real after the dark winter. In March, even though we can still have several cold spells left, all through April really, you can at least start hoping for more lasting warmer spring weather in between these cold spells. Oh I can’t wait! What is your personal first sign of spring?
Dreading what? The dentist 🙁 Tomorrow morning at 7:30 (today when you read this) I have a dentist appointment. The annual check-up. But I know I will have to come back and fix an old filling that was about to ”give up” already last year but he decided to wait in order not to torture me until it is absolutely necessary. He knows I am not too happy with the pain. The fact that I know I will have to come back to fix this makes me dread the appointment more than usual. I don’t want to go. I have this problem that the anesthesia doesn’t work on me. Well, it works in that usual loss of sense of lips, tongue, cheeks and everything for hours afterwards. But it never works against the actual pain of fixing the tooth. That nerve pain. I hate it! Ever since a difficult root filling a long time ago I can’t […]
So here is a quick lunchtime update. 🙂 It is a beautiful day here in Stockholm today. The sun is shining and you can feel a hint of warmth from its rays. Finally. A tiny tiny sense of spring even though the shadows and winds are still cold. A colleague and I decided to go out for lunch at restaurant Syster & Bror here at KTH campus. I had pasta Bolognese for lunch, she had zucchini pasta. Lunch view After that we took a short walk around the campus on our way back to the office to enjoy the sunshine just a little bit longer. We passed a beautiful little tree that I had to capture with my mobile phone. Now I am getting ready to join my colleagues at the company fair here on campus. This photo is from earlier today when the fair had just opened. Can’t wait to meet the students!
I have a dream that I one day will get to see the northern lights. It must one of the most beautiful things there is to see in my mind. Magic. And what do I hear? The day before yesterday the northern lights were visible here in Lidingö and I didn’t see it. It has been visable down here several times this winter and I have missed it every time. What are the odds that it appears this far south and what are the odds that it does it several times in one season and what are the odds that I miss it each time? If you want to see truly magical photos of the northern lights from northern Sweden where it is really strong and beautiful, check out young artist Jonna Jinton’s blog. She is a big inspiration of mine both in her way of life, her view on […]
On my photo walk on Sunday I got lost! So I didn’t get to take as many photos as I wanted and the weather was very dull so the short time I could take photos I could only get a few for Jen’s and my tree project on Thursday. For the project, the ”flat” grey weather worked pretty well though. I browsed through my folders on my computer and found photos from up to over five years ago. It is fun to look back. Because I can see development! The photos I take now are actually even better than photos I took only a year ago. That makes me so happy to see that I can improve. I thought I’d show a couple of older photos showing parts of the walk or bike ride to work. This little red house is situated near the waterline in the little tiny water of […]
The last couple of weeks have been wonderful. Now we are facing mild weather and the snow is melting and getting dirty. I mourn the beautiful sunny sparkly winter days, but I would not mourn if this was actually the end of winter. I long for spring and light. How was your weekend? Mine was fine. The weather was dull so I didn’t get to take any new photos for our tree project this week, the theme being backlight. Difficult when there is no light. So I will have to put up old photos this week. Next week we will have a very cool and very creative theme coming up. You will find out what it is on Thursday when Jen and I present this week’s photos. On Saturday I did my volunteer work at the cat shelter. Adorable kitties – they always melt my heart. They are like medicine […]
